Performance of Carbide Alloy Compounds in Carbon Doped MoNbTaW

In this work, the performance of carbon doped compositionally complex alloy (CCA) MoNbTaW was studied under ambient and high pressure temperature conditions. TaC NbC carbides were formed when a large concentration introduced while synthesizing alloy. Both FCC BCC CCA phases detected in sample compound at room temperature, which phase believed to have only refractory elements carbide came from NbC. Carbides very stable since no transition obtained even 3.1 GPa 870 °C by employing resistor-heating diamond anvil cell (DAC) synchrotron X-ray diffraction technique. Via situ examination, study confirms stability temperature.
